This section offers suggestions and resources, supporting residents of Stonnington to take practical action to support biodiversity in their local area, based on our experience as an independent community environmental organisation.
It contains links and information on Nature Strips, planting suggestions and other resources.
Our focus is on conditions in the local government area of Stonnington in inner southeast Melbourne/Naarm, but the information may also be of interest to people living in nearby areas and members of the broader community.
We hope you find it useful!
Rewilding Stonnington’s Nature Strips Guidelines were revised in August 2026, available for download below.
For our recommended 5 stage process to set up your nature strip for revegetation, see the Nature Strips: Info page.
For examples of our work locally since 2020, check out Nature Strips: Examples in the Projects section.
Please be aware that residents of Stonnington wanting to rewild their nature strip will require a Council permit. You can find information on Council’s Nature Strip Planting Policy, access a copy of the Nature Strip Planting Handbook and start a permit application online via the Council website.
