This list of suggested plants suitable for local conditions was last revised in January 2024. Most of the plants on the list are available from nurseries in the Melbourne area. While plants including grasses can be propagated yourself, it’s best to work from stock you have already grown. Remember that many native plant species are protected by legislation and a permit is required for seed collection from public land.
