Hullo there Rewilders,
We've had a busy few weeks, with working bees at Prahran and Tooronga, walks around the Tooronga/BEAMI precinct and along our proposed Indigenous Heritage Walk route from South Yarra to Windsor with the lovely Engaged Stonnington Monday and Thursday walking groups; and events with our friends from Malvern ACF and Friends of the Urban Forest.
Thanks for the invitations! and thanks so much to everyone who organised, led and participated in these activities.
And now, as the seasons of the Kulin nation move from Guling (orchid season) to Poorneet (tadpole season) we are reminded that it's also almost spring in the Western calendar.
CLIMATE ALERT
This year, the recent Climate Driver Update from the Bureau of Meteorology warns us of warmer and drier conditions as we move into summer, on top of some of the hottest global temperatures ever recorded from April-July. BoM Climate Driver update August 2023
That means we will need to finish planting earlier than in previous years, get mulching and look at watering over summer, to give our new revegetation areas the best chance of survival.
In this edition, details of our first two working bees in September, plus wild times with Higgins CAN next Thursday 31st August. Hope you can make it to one or more of these events!
Also check out our Facebook page for extra working bee dates and/or small group activities as we work to get plants in the ground before that looming hot dry summer ...
